ALL ABOUT TRASHLEY
Trevor Ashley is one of Australia’s most in-demand performers — an actor, writer, director and international cabaret sensation, though rarely in that order.
He is currently starring as Roger De Bris in The Producers at the Garrick Theatre in London’s West End, earning rapturous reviews. The Times declared, “It’s hard to imagine a funnier, cannier turn than Trevor Ashley,” while the Evening Standard called him “sublime.” Gay Times agrees — he’s “absolutely stealing every scene.”
A musical theatre icon, Trevor received his third Helpmann Award nomination for his turn as Thénardier in Cameron Mackintosh’s Les Misérables. His career-defining roles also include Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar, the original Australian Edna Turnblad in Hairspray, Miss Understanding in Priscilla Queen of the Desert: The Musical, and a sold-out national run as Pharaoh in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
He was most recently the fan-favourite runner-up on Queen of the Universe, the global drag singing competition hosted by Graham Norton and streaming worldwide on WOW Presents Plus.
In cabaret, Trevor has toured internationally with the hit shows Liza (on an E) and Liza’s Back! (is broken). His original works include Moulin Scrooge!, Diva Degustation, I’m Every Woman — which earned him a Sydney Theatre Award — and his wildly popular pantos Fat Swan and The White Mermaid (or the Little Lotus). He also completed a national symphony tour of Diamonds Are for Trevor, his tribute to Shirley Bassey, later recorded as a Foxtel television special.
Trevor has performed solo at some of the world’s great venues, from the Sydney Opera House to Sony Hall in New York, and enjoyed an extended West End run of Liza. On screen, he appears as a series regular in RFDS: Royal Flying Doctors (Seven Network) and in the acclaimed films Seriously Red and Holding the Man (Amazon Prime). Most recently in London, he starred in Priscilla The Party!
